I'm not too worried about what happened last night since the Kings obviously forgot what the playoffs are like so I think they will come out much better on Sunday.

We did lose the 1st two in St Louis last year so I won't be too worried until we get down 3-0

What was there to analyze though really?

Kings played arguably two of their worst periods of the year to open the game, got behind by five goals, and crawled slightly back in it because San Jose were playing like zombies in the third.

I can't point to a single King who overall had a strong game. Maybe Doughty? Maybe Kopitar.

It was an awful performance and they have to move on from it.

I don't think Darryl minded all that much. He's never been one to be overly talkative. And speaking of professional, I'm sure everyone appreciated him talking to a small group of reporters while purposely avoiding his responsibility of going to the interview room like he's supposed to but that's Darryl!

Mitchell has been a liability all year. He is too old and too slow to play the game the way it's played these days. Sad to see him get exposed on almost every play. Time to say goodbye to Willie and thanks for the memories.

Oh tremendous credit. They picked the Kings apart.

From the onset of this series (dating back a couple of articles) I've said this thing is a coin flip. They played the Kings extremely tight all year despite the season series not looking as close.

Last night was brutal from the Kings end though.

1st goal was a mistake by Quick not tracking the puck. 2nd goal was a bad defensive play from Voynov, turnovers on the 3rd and 4th. Good play on the 5th.

It just wasn't a good game from the Kings. Sharks played well. Kings played beyond terrible.

No need to explain yourself to that troll! He should worry about the Rangers who also dominated.

how the kings controlled the third period is worrying for a sharks fan. sharks always seem to forget to play the third period of hockey games, even when they are only up by one or two they always seem to not play well.

game two will be way different

sharks 2-1 win

if sharks dont steal a game in LA (games 3 or 4) i think the kings will take them

The first sentence of the piece under the appropriate picture of the dumpster fire is:

Sharks manhandled the Kings defense.

I can think of no greater credit to give an opponent in a game played by men.

Truth is, the Kings came out flat and the Sharks came out flying. By the third, the Sharks were gassed and the Kings woke-up. I expect game 2 to be a 1 goal game (2 goals with a possible empty netter). You won't see periods 1 and 2 happen to the Kings again on Sunday.

Great quote! as a Kings fan I feel the same way. Kings need to steal a game or two in the tank to win this thing. One thing is for sure, The hype of this series won't let us down. Love these hard hitting battles.

he's not a flyers fan, he is a sharks fan and only shows his face here after a Kings loss. I read comments on Meltzers blog all the time, I've never seen him comment there............. Troll

Why is no one willing to put some blame on "Full Potato Doughty"? I feel like every one has extreme rose tinted glasses when it comes to that guy. I think I will go ahead and start working on that video compilation of all his full potato-ness because I know I am going to get lit up for even remotely criticizing him, so I will bring out the hammer. he sucks, I don't care how many gold medals he has, he does not play that way in a kings uniform. If he did I wouldn't have a problem with him. Please people, watch him closely for eff's sake, it's not that hard to see. I am tired of watching him dog it out of the D zone, slow things down to a crawl while everyone charges up ice, then he tries to force a pass to the blue line that results in turn overs and odd man rushes and if it's not that play, he carries it to the blue line and draws his own forwards off side, then, after a series of bone head plays he tries to over compensate and force plays and hog the puck and ultimately do nothing or cause more goals against. Him and Willie Mitchell need to go. Trade Brown and Doughty for Shea Weber, then you will see how good this team can be. Oh yeah, Nolan sucks too, put Pearson back out there!

Boom goes the Dynamite

and while I'm at it EFF the Sharks and NoCal !!!

Doughty sucks? Haha, nice effort, did he steal your girlfriend or something? I watched 75-80% of Kings games this year and say your analysis is just bad, and obviously based on emotion. Doughty is one of the best Dmen in the league. In fact, when he went down near the end of the season, anyone who knows hockey, knew the King's playoffs hopes went with him. He is all word. Get over your hate, your girlfriend is likely better off anyway.

I assure you it is purely based on his horrible play. my girlfriend is right where she belongs, so lets talk about how doughty sh!ts the sheets night in and night out... 75 to 80%? wow you are a eff'n die hard...

you are kind of like that mom that doesn't realize their kid is ugly, you just keep telling the kid how beautiful it is and completely fail to see that it is ugly enough to turn a funeral up an alley. so until you realize your kid is ugly, it's kind of hard for me to point out how bad doughty is. you can tell me your child is gorgeous all you want, but my eyes are working, and I am not the only one who sees it..

we would be better off with Shea Weber

he pushed it a little last night because of the deficit but he played good in my opinion. He gives me a kopitar feeling of puck security when he has the puck so trade DD? no fn way

He also fell flat on his face in the offensive zone WITH NO ONE EVEN NEAR HIM!

When he has the puck I feel as secure as a Jew in Ukraine.
